Trangia for emergencies

The Trangia factory has been located in the Jämtland Mountains for almost 100 years. It therefore feels extra important to support the efforts made to increase the safety for people coming to enjoy our mountains. It can sometimes take days to get help in an emergency situation and that is why there needs to be supplies available.

In all of Swedens mountainous regions, there are efforts made made by mountain safety organisations to reduce the risk of accidents and increase the level of safety for all visitors. People who visit the mountains have a personal responsibility for their own safety. In an emergency situation it can take a long time before help arrives, it is therefore critical to have necessary supplies available. In the Jämtland mountains, Åre Mountain security organisation have placed out emergency boxes in wind shelters and overnight cabins. They contain a Trangia stove, emergency food and drinks, first aid kit, firewood, matches and tea lights, tools and repair supplies.

Before you visit the mountains it is good to be prepared for quick weather changes. As an inexperienced first timer it is best to hike with someone who is more experienced. The emergency boxes are for everyones safety and are therefore replenished regularly.

Not long after the emergency boxes where placed out, the mountain security organisation received their first ‘Thank you’ message from a lucky hiker. He was on a hike to ‘Sylarna’ but had to spend the night in a cabin after a health scare. He was transported with sledge and later helicopter from Spåjme the following day. They were so thankful that there were some emergency supplies for them to use during the night, he offered to pay for the mountain safety organisation to replace what he had used.
