I bought this coolest because of its small size. It’s perfect for boiling water to rehydrate a meal, or to warm up a can of food. It also works well for ramen noodles (you have to break them apart), or for cooking rice or a small amount of pasta. It’s also very good at making a small pot of popcorn. You have to bend the handle away from the flames or you can melt the plastic on the handle. Also, the pot stand does not do a particularly good job as acting as a windscreen. I wish trangia would redesign this to function a little more like their “stormcooker” windscreen in their larger cookouts. Basically make it look like a can with a hole in the bottom that you point towards the wind and the can top could rest into the detent on the bottom of the pot. I think that would work better and be easier to machine. Regardless, it still does the job very nicely and has quickly become my go to cookset. I’d buy it again if I lost it and I’d replace any parts that I may damage over time.

I purchase a Trangia Micro kit with their tried & true alcohol Spirit Burner Stove vs the gel burner. On an overnight hike last week in the Adirondacks, NY, temps didn’t get above freezing. Before retiring for the evening, I filled the small pot with water and woke up with it completely frozen. The temperature was 24F. With one stove alcohol filling, I was able to melt the ice & bring the pot of water to a boil for morning coffee.
