Ceramic Coating – a new generation of non-stick

Trangia Ceramic Coating is based on an advanced, patent-pending formula developed in Sweden. Using a new process developed by Trangia, the coating is applied at our factory in Trångsviken, Sweden. The frypan is made from Ultralight Aluminium (UL), with the ceramic coating on the inside and UL on the outside.

The coating is clear and transparent, with no added colorants. It contains no intentionally added PFAS or silicone oil. Unlike coatings that rely on silicone oils, Trangia Ceramic Coating maintains its non-stick performance over time without gradually losing its properties.

How do I care for my Ceramic frypan and other Ceramic coated products?

• Hand washing is recommended.
• Use wooden or plastic utensils.
• Avoid dry cooking / overheating
• Protect the surface when packing the frypan in your stove.
• Always use a small amount of cooking oil or fat when frying even if its non-stick.

Can Trangia Ceramic products be used over an open fire?

Yes, they can. However, just like all our other pots and pans, care should be taken to avoid overheating when using them over an open fire, as it can be difficult to judge the temperature.

What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic Coating is a hardened, glass-like surface made from a mineral-based material, primarily silica (sand). It is non-toxic and contains no harmful substances, such as PFAS. The coating is clear and transparent, with no added colorants. Trangia Ceramic Coating is based on an advanced, patent-pending formula without silicone oil.

Is the coating scratch resistant?

The surface can be scratched by metal, so metal utensils should be avoided. Trangia’s handle is intended for normal use as a pot handle. Like other non-stick cookware, Ceramic Coating products should be used with wooden or plastic utensils, and the cooking surface should be protected during transport.

What makes Trangia Ceramic Coating different from other ceramic coatings?

Many ceramic coatings contain additives, such as silicone oils, which can cause the non-stick performance to deteriorate over time. Trangia Ceramic Coating is based on a new, Swedish developed, patent-pending formula without silicone oil. It is designed to maintain its non-stick performance over time, without gradually losing its effectiveness.

Does a ceramic coating last on thin aluminum?

Yes, under normal use. Trangia Ceramic Coating has been specially developed for lightweight aluminum cookware, and both the coating and the application process are designed with this in mind. The lifespan depends on how the product is used and cared for. For best durability, we recommend hand washing, protecting the surface during transport, using wooden or plastic utensils, and avoiding overheating and unnecessary deformation.
