How to make coffee in a kettle – a simple guide to campfire coffee


Making coffee in a kettle is easy once you know the steps. For a rich, full-bodied flavour, use coarsely ground coffee. We recommend using 7 g of coffee per 100 ml of water for our own campfire coffee.

Step by step:

  • Fill your kettle with water to just below the shoulder.
  • Measure the coffee using the kettle lid and add it to the water. A good rule of thumb is one heaped lid of coffee per kettle.
  • Place the kettle over the fire or on a bed of hot embers.
  • Remove the kettle from the heat just before it starts to boil and repeat this two more times.
  • Let the coffee rest for about five minutes before pouring
